There’s no better way to see the ‘other’ world than from the seat of a bike! Cycling diverse terrain across mountainous, rugged landscapes on often remote, rough roads; it’s an exceptional way to see the wild areas of a country side particularly Uganda. On our mountain bike tours, you’ll encounter some of the most spectacular scenery on an adventure away from the highways and into the hills of Uganda.

As you explore some of the most beautiful and remote destinations on the planet, let us take care of the details while you ride all the trails you’ve been dreaming about. The journey starts from Kisoro, the home to the half population of the remaining mountain gorillas in the whole world and the breathtaking view of the 7 volcanoes found in the region Six of the volcanoes are dormant, but two erupted as recently as 2010. Pedaling in the middle of Bwindi impenetrable forest to magnificent queen Elizabeth national park.

5 days of cycling, covering 290km, with some serious climbs and technical single rugged trails, preparation is needed both mentally and physically as we will have to endure some challenging bits. However, this does not have to worry you, as we will be having a van following us always. If you feel like you want to leave the bike and jump into the car, that’s totally ok!!!.

DAY 1: IN KISORO

We cycle from our accommodation facility towards the slopes of the Virunga Mountains to the twin lakes; Chahafi and Mulehe and a long Lake Mutanda through cultivated hills with very good single trails, through surrounding villages, local farm steads and Matooke (banana) fields, giving you a chance to interact with the village/local people

Kisoro is one of the most beautiful districts in Uganda (we will get an opportunity to stand on the view where a missionary Churchill Nicknamed Uganda ‘‘Pearl of Africa’’. Kisoro is also the most exciting adventures cycling destination in the country.

DAY 2: LAKE MUTANDA-LAKE BUNYONYI.

After a refreshing swim in the morning, we cycle to another lake, but there are a few hills in our path. We will be riding up and down most of the day as we pass many villages and farms along the southern part of Bwindi impenetrable forest. The uphill will connect as to the tarmac road for 5km before we join the boat to our accommodation which will take 45 minutes.

DAY 3: THE HOME OF GORILLAS.

Surfaces: Dirt roads.                              

We cycle down to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi shores and along terraced farmland. The scenic gravel road along the shores is only used by a few pedestrians. We join the tarmac road, before we hit the hilly dirt road through the mountain rain forest of Bwindi impenetrable national park. This trail offers a stunning view of the terraced rolling hills and valleys of Kabale. We watch out for monkey and bird as well as the shy forest duiker. Leaving the National Park we cycle mostly downhill through diversified mountain landscape Buhoma for a night.

DAY 4:  BUHOMA- ISHASHA QENP

Surfaces: Dirt roads.

In the morning, we cycle through farm lands, entering through Queen Elizabeth National Park through the savannah grasslands. We will experience different vegetation covers in one park from savannah, grasslands, acacia woodland s and tropical rain forest to keep our energies up and excited. Our lunch will be a buffet in kanungu town and the after hit the road to our accommodation. Looking at such geographical features, beautiful environment, tea plantations and marveling at how people manage to live and earn a living on the steep hills, makes one appreciate what a master planner the Creator is.

DAY 5: ISHASHA-QENP

Surfaces: Dirt roads.

We cycle through mostly part of Queen Elizabeth for the day’s journey, with stop over’s for the beautiful scenery and wildlife. Along the way, we will cross the equator where we will stop for a photo. We will have a picnic lunch at one of the beautiful views of the forest in Queen Elizabeth national park. We might encounter elephants, buffalos, waterbucks and many more on a lucky day as we cycle to the accommodation facility.

Day 6. End of the trip.

After break first, we will load our bikes on the van and head back to Kisoro.
